Now if only I can find that guy who hands out pennies for all this stuff - wossname - The Forwards Fairy? - "Pass this to all your friends in the next 5 mins or all your kittens will die?" type forwards always scare me. I always delete them - I have no kittens. Not anymore at least!

Bird on a wire? Won't ever get electrocuted - not enough potential difference between the two contact points (feet) to drive enough current through the high impedance medium that is the body. But yea, if it touches both simultaneously...

Medical equipment design, huh? I suppose I could read up on my EEE knowledge - but I've been in software for over a year now! :S

Brandy - I'm so happy to have you as a witness to the Kite-man horror.

Chey - Who knew a wire hangar would evoke such a compliment? Thanks!

Allison - The Electric Company was awesome, wasn't it?! Too bad it had to hide in the shadow of Sesame Street. Sure, I loved the Muppets too, but it's a pity so many quality shows had to rot away.

Nimish- 1) Thanks! I don't think anyone's answered your request yet.

2) Yes, a bird on a wire.

3) An electrical engineer? I had no idea. That's awesome You should look into designing medical equipment, there seems to be a demand!

hennifer- Uh oh, I've never broken a bone either! Something new to worry about.

Karen- Thanks! ...I hope you wear flame-retardant clothing.

Romi - Careful on that subway. I'm sorry if I sizzled a new fear into your psyche.

Matt- You know, I never considered that: a life without bathing would at least take one concern off the list.

Caryn - You're right, electrocution does seem a more preferable demise than choking ...as strange as that seems to say.

David - You probably forgot to comment because I've been AWOL for 2+ months, not posting and not leaving comments for others... therefore, I certainly don't begrudge you.

Nimish - Nimish is right! (just trying to help you with your savings)

my biggest death fear is that my death will be just plain stupid, not dramatic, meaningful, and existentially conclusive, as one would naturally hope for

One of my larger death-fears too. :(

Nimish is right

If only I had a penny for everytime someone said that... I'd get a dollar every decade! :P

Nimish is right, this post is really excellent! What the fuck took me so long to comment on it? I remember laughing over it back in August, and now it's October. WTF Adam!?!?

Thanks for the Electric Company Youtube link too, what a great blast from the past that was! Morgan Freeman!

Electricity, especially in the form of lightning, has always terrified me too, but my biggest death fear is that my death will be just plain stupid, not dramatic, meaningful, and existentially conclusive, as one would naturally hope for.

I've come near to choking a few times, and I worry that that's how I'm going to go. It would be so awful. Electricity, at least, is quick. I can't decide if it's good to have an inkling, or if it could become a self-fulfilling prophecy. In case it's the latter, I try not to worry about choking, which means I may not be as careful as I should be.

It's always those words that make you actually experience the "experience" which get to me....i.e. when you dropped the word "sizzle" I could actually feel my eyebrows starting to singe....AHHH elecricity freaks me out....I recently found out that if you get pushed onto the subway tracks, you not only have to worry about getting hit by a subway train, but you also have to worry about landing on the 3rd rail, which will electrocute you.

I take the subway every day.

Splendid.

I am horribly afraid of fire. I just know I will die or inadvertently kill someone by fire.

The camera flash stunt has got to be the funniest pranks EVER in the history of Man.

As always, my cheeks hurt from laughing whilst reading your blog!

I myself am sure I will meet my demise by breaking my neck because I've never broken a bone in my body (now 33).

I was electrocuted horribly when I was a small child by an electric fence (at least the version in my mind was horrific. Burnt hands unable to unfreeze my death grip position.

Yay for Electric Company!

The pie slice eyes killed me, thanks for the visual to drive it home.

1. Beautifully constructed and paced post. Can a publisher come here please?
2. Good points about electric-city. Dangerous bird that.
3. I am, technically speaking, an electrical engineer. That means on a technicality, not technologically. I mean that's what my degree says. Will say, when they'll correct it. I'm digressing, aren't I?
