These folks get downright hostile if you deprive them for too long. They can't thrive on the meager offerings of the rest of us for very long. So turn of <i>Buffy</i> every so often and throw some bloody meat this way. (What's worse than a circus/clown metaphor? A <i>shark</i> metaphor!) (Clowns riding sharks...)
